Checklist and Test Day Essentials For TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language popularly known as TOEFL is an entrance test conducted at international level for individuals who wish to pursue higher studies abroad in countries where English is the language used as mode of instruction. TOEFL tests your ability to excel in written and spoken English which is very essential to survive in English speaking countries. The TOEFL is carried out in two methods that are Paper Based Test and Internet Based Test.

Imagine this! The registration process is complete and you have been practicing hard to get your improve your test and now the countdown for test day finally ends. It is D-Day, the test day and amidst all the tension built up, you forget to carry your ID proof. Surely you wouldn’t want this to happen to you. It is important you do not forget documents and things which are very important on the test day. So it is always advisable to keep a checklist. A checklist is a list of information which reduces the risk of omitting any important task, among other tasks even if it’s a minute one.

The following are the test day essentials for TOEFL exam.

For Paper Based Test (PBT)

• Having a valid ID (identification document) is very important to enter the test centre. The ID must contain your name, signature and photo in it.

Note: Mention the same name in the test as stated during the registration process.

• Admission ticket is very important which has the registration number and the code of institutes which you have selected as score recipients.
• It is important to have 3 to 4 HB pencils and note that mechanical pencils are not permitted in the test centre.
• Your thumb impression will be verified along with verification of other documents and signature.

For internet Based Test (iBT)

• Registration Confirmation Letter

Note: The print out of registration number and information on test site should be taken and brought on the day of the test.

• Valid Identification

Note: It is very important to bring a valid identification document which has your name, photograph and signature on it.

Few Important Points

• Reach the test center at least 30 minutes before the scheduled test timing.
• You will need to sign a document of confidentiality.
• If you want to reschedule the test, it should be done in advance. The reschedules on the test day are not accepted.
• You will not be given extra time for the test. So the time limit for this test is 4 1/2 hours approximately.
• The scrap paper and pencils will be provided by the test center only.
• The test center premises may be videotaped for security reasons.
• If you have taken PBT, your score sheet will be sent within five weeks after the test day.
• If you have taken iBT, your score card will be sent to you online.
• You have the option to reappear for the test if you are not satisfied with your overall performance.
• You will be permitted to bring earplugs if needed.
•  At the test room, your photo will be taken and placed at your seat. The same photo will be attached to your score card.
• Apart from ID proof and registration number, no other personal belongings are allowed in test room. Lockers will be provided to every candidate to place the personal things in it before entering the test room.

A checklist always makes the tasks easier to perform and becomes one of the important factors along with all the preparation techniques, test processes and other test related procedures.
