Masters Degree in Spain

Graduation Education in Spain
University education in Spain is divided into three cycles of studies.
  • Single-Cycle Programs: These studies generally take 3 long years to complete and give a Diplomatura (Bachelor’s Degree) at the end. However students studying these programs are not qualified for second cycle of studies. Common examples of Single-Cycle Programs are Library Studies and Nursing.
  • Two-Cycle Studies
    • With an Intermediate Diploma: These programs give students with the option of continuing their studies to the second cycle after they get the Diplomatura (Bachelor’s Degree) or Arquitectura Técnica and Ingeniería Técnica degrees (Bachelor degree in Architecture or Engineering). These studies allow students to apply for the degree of Licenciatura (Masters Degree), or Arquitecto and Ingeniero (Architect and Engineer). Two-Cycle studies generally take five to six years to complete. Common examples of Two-Cycle programs are Economics, Law, Architecture and Engineering.
    • Two-Cycle Studies without an Intermediate Diploma: This type of studies is divided into two cycles and it is important to complete both cycles to obtain the degree of Licenciatura (Masters Degree). These programs generally cover four to five-years of studies. 
Academic Calendar
In Spain, the academic year begins in last week of September and completes in the first week of June. Spanish Universities generally follow two semester pattern. The first semester starts in the last week of September and ends in the third week of January, whereas the second term begins in the third week of February and concludes in the first week of June.

Admissions Requirements
  • If you are interested in master’s program in Spain, you must have a relevant bachelor’s or equivalent degree diploma
  • Complete details of your educational qualification including your course subjects and grades.
  • Official transcripts from each institution you have attended after secondary school with full details of the subjects, credits involved and other details like correspondence courses, diplomas etc.
  • If original documents or transcripts are not in English, you need to attach an attested English translation of the same along with application. 
  • Your IELTS/ TOEFL score as a proof of your English proficiency.
  • Completely filled application form with all relevant information.
  • Proof of sufficient financial assets to fund your studies.
  • A valid passport. 
Application Procedure
  • You can directly download the application form for the universities from their respective websites. Fill the application form completely with all relevant information. Attach all necessary documents and submit the application form to the enrollment office of the university before the application deadline.
  • After receiving your application, university will evaluate it and send you an official acceptance letter. The letter will include all necessary details regarding registration dates, accommodation, uniforms, payment schedule, medical insurance, etc. 
Cost of Education
 
Tuition Fees
In Spain, the tuition fees vary from institute to institute and are dependent upon the credits assigned to the course. A master’s degree containing 60 ECTS credits can cost anywhere between 995 Euro and 1,920 Euro.
 
Living Cost
Living cost includes accommodation, food, traveling and other expenses. Students in Spain generally spend anywhere between 900 Euro to 1100 Euro per month on their cost of living.
