Eligibility Criteria
Though there are no basic eligibility criteria for joining an internship program in UK, the qualifications required may vary according to the placement agency and the organization. Some of the obligations are mandatory while others, as mentioned above, may or may not be required. However, for convenience, the eligibility obligations have been segregated. Go through them:
 
Mandatory
  • The applicant must have an appropriate visa/work permit that allows him/her to take up internship for the chosen duration.
  • The applicant must be proficient in all forms of English: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Successful clearance of IELTS exam is a must with good scores.
  • The applicant should have enough funds to support his/her stay in UK during the duration of internship.
  • Employers prefer those would-be interns who are motivated and have a positive mental attitude towards the work at hand.
 
Non-Mandatory
  • The applicant should have successfully completed the secondary education.
  • The applicant should either be a recent graduate or should be in the last year of the graduation course.
  • The applicant must possess academic and professional qualifications or should be pursuing a field directly related to the field of internship. Inexperienced but motivated interns are also accepted by some employers.
  • The applicant must be of minimum 16 years of age to maximum of 35 years of age.
 
Documents Required
  • Completed Internship Program Application Form
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae, including color photo
  • Letter of Internship Objectives
  • Academic transcripts (in English)
  • A valid passport or travel document acceptable for entry in UK
  • Letter of objective or Motivation Letter in English to the proposed host company
  • Evidence of finances to support oneself during the stay in UK for internship
 
Application Procedure
  • The first step is that applicants are required to fill up an application form of the placement agency along with uploading a photo and mentioning work permit details.
  • After completion and submission of the form the placement agency will contact the applicant within 28-48 hours with the status of the application.
  • If the application is successful then the applicant will be requested for a telephonic interview or written interview via email. 2-3 interviews may be conducted depending on the policy of the placement agency.
  • After completion of the interviews, the applicant will be intimated again in 24-48 hours about the final status of the application and if successful, the agency will contact the applicant for further details.
  • Generally, the applicant can apply for an internship and join anytime of the year. Therefore, no lead time is required by the agency. As soon as the applicant receives a confirmation about the acceptance, he/she can then proceed further with the visa formalities.
