GMAT candidates would be able to get through to take up a GMAT test only if they submit correct identification documents for GMAT registration. These important proofs need to be sent well in advance, to get test appointment as per individual choice.

Identification Documents for GMAT Registration

Qualification of a person depends on his/her identity. Governments take extensive care, to assure that surveillance is made easier through personal identity. This in turn turns out to be a healthy measure because it helps declare the basic rights of a citizen .Each and every citizen of varying race and social order hence is bestowed with an identity as men and women of the country, where their ancestors had migrated as tribes once. These very same identification documents come in handy when we have to sit for global tests like GMAT.

What is the Role of ID Proof in GMAT Registration?

An ID proof qualifies a person, when they want to apply for an esteemed exam like GMAT registration. Papers or identification proof issued by government prove that the record of that citizen is clean from crime. But identification differs from one country to another. This difference in accepting the ID proof is applicable to a world class test like GMAT as well.

Eligibility

The word “eligibility” counts a lot when candidates produce their identification for GMAT registration. Test centers all around the world accept different forms of ID, depending on the country and resident ship. Even though the candidate has to produce Identification documents according to the test center, certain documents are accepted as identification for GMAT registration in common. It depends on the situation. In general there are four forms of identification for GMAT. They are as listed below:
  • Passport
  • Government-issued driver’s license
  • Government-issued National/State/Province ID card including an European ID card
  • Military ID card
The above mentioned are the four forms of ID required to take up a GMAT test.

Note: Special Case: If an applicant is from Iran then he should contact GMAT customer service for registration.

The identification proof for GMAT registration differs, according to the test centre. Candidates, who apply for GMAT, should be prepared with more than one ID proof, knowing this fact. Please go through the conditions listed below: 
  • Asia-Pacific
When GMAT applicants, schedules a test appointment in the test centers in Asia-Pacific, they are required to submit their passport. The following are the Asia-Pacific countries where passport is accepted by the test centers:
Bangladesh; Bhutan; Brunei; Darussalam; Cambodia; China; Mainland China; Taiwan Province of China; Hong Kong SAR; India; Indonesia; Japan ;Korea Democratic; People's Republic of Korea; Republic of Laos; Malaysia; Maldives; Mongolia; Myanmar; Nepal;  Pakistan; Philippines; Singapore; Sri Lanka; Thailand; Viet Nam.
  • European Union
Applicants who are European citizens, and take up a test in another country are required to produce their passport. Their European ID card is also accepted. The following are the European Union countries where Passport or European ID card is accepted:
Austria; Belgium; Bulgaria; CyprusCzechRepublic; Denmark; Estonia; Finland; France; Germany; Greece; Hungary; Ireland; Italy; Latvia; Lithuania; Luxembourg; Malta; Netherlands; Poland; Portugal; Romania; Slovakia; Slovenia; Spain; Sweden; United Kingdom.
  • United States
Applicants, who are permanent residents and citizens of United States, are required to produce their passport and green card, if they are taking up the test in United States. It’s applicable to North, South and Central American countries.
  • Cuba
Applicants from Cuba should provide a proof that they have a primary residence out of their citizenship boundaries. In case they take up the test in United States and its territories their Cuban ID card is accepted because it is U.S. sanctioned.
  • Iran
Applicants, who are permanent Iranian residents and citizens, are required to submit their Iranian passports, if they take up the test within the boundary of their citizenship. The reason is, it is sanctioned by U.S. If they take up the test, outside the boundaries of their citizenship, proof is needed which shows that, they have a primary residence outside the boundaries of their citizenship.

Proper identification is enforced to prevent hassles at the test centers. GMAT candidates who spend most of their time in preparation should also be prepared with valid identification for GMAT registration. Indeed this will help them to take up the test with a systematic and secure approach towards the test.
